Understanding Performance Needs
Challenge
Swansea City asked us for help in hiring a new head coach to replace the previous successful head coach and push for the playoffs.
Solution
After understanding the performance needs of the club and its overall philosophy, we developed a Swansea City Head Coach Index to evaluate a range of coaches who had both applied and not applied for the role, enabling the club to rule candidates in and out.
Working with Elite Performance Partners, we identified England U17 coach Steve Cooper as an outstanding candidate for the club, who was then hired following a data-supported recruitment process.
Impact
Cooper led Swansea City to back-to-back playoff qualifications in his two seasons in charge, and has become one of the most sought-after coaches in the British game.
