Scope and Impact

This Software Developer’s role will be focused around brilliant development of software which can be broken down into timely development of high quality code that will stand the test of time by creating value for our partners, such as The United States Golf Association who received a significant uptick in their engagement as part of our Win Probability tool and UEFA for whom we power the Fedex Performance Zone as well as working on our proprietary tool that are used by some of the biggest teams in football and elite touring golf pros.

Scope and Impact

Twenty First Group are a global sports intelligence agency – striving to get our clients ahead and keep them ahead. We combine strategy, data science, engineering and design to help some of the biggest names in sport find an edge over their competition and increase their chances of success. Examples include: setting strategy/policy for top European football leagues, delivering golf insights to the PGA Tour and brand partners, and building a direct-to-consumer app for a golf manufacturer.

We are a curious, positive, driven and global team – with offices in London, San Francisco

and Singapore. We are looking for the outliers in the market to join our team. Those who like to think differently and challenge the status quo. Those who share our passion for sport, and our desire to constantly move the needle. Most importantly people who share our values and desire to make a lasting, positive impact in sport.

Our Consulting division works alongside our Data Science and Engineering teams to deliver best-in-class solutions to the full portfolio of our clients.  Our Senior Consultants, who report to the Chief Intelligence  Officer, are fundamental to both supporting the heads of each function to set strategy and build out / sell our value proposition, while also working closely with each team on project delivery.

  • Monitor competitor activities to ensure we are not caught off-guard by new entrants or solutions in our space

Revenue Generation

  • Support Chief Commercial Officer in sales pursuits, including developing responses to RFPs, participating in and leading in-person pitches, and closing deals / negotiating commercial terms
  • Own and deliver on annual revenue targets across both new and existing clients, pursuing longer-term commercial partnerships rather than one-off projects
  • Create opportunities for further consulting projects with clients by spending time on client due diligence, understanding what strategic questions are likely to be on their minds, and where we can help them
  • Create a mentality of “outside in” rather than “inside out” thinking where the client’s needs are put first and at the core of our outputs and deliverables

Project Delivery

  • Own project scoping process with client to ensure mutually agreeable/beneficial set of deliverables
  • Ensure the timely delivery of all client-based project milestones and key deliverables
  • Continuously evaluate the key deliverables in accordance with the original scope of work provided by management and/or the client

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with key client stakeholders on both senior and project level to develop a deeper understanding of what drives them and how we can help them
  • Instil a “client first” mentality throughout the business, ensuring that we go above and beyond to meet their needs and expectations in all our engagements

Line and Cross-functional Project Management

  • Coordinate a project team of consultants, data scientists and technologists to ensure we deliver on time, to budget, and to the standard required of our clients

Experience

General

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to clients from a non-analytical background, extracting and presenting the key message to clients
  • A strong interest in sports – both an existing personal interest and a willingness to expand knowledge in line with client delivery work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the commercial sports industry – key players, macro trends, business models, and commercial partnership approaches
  • Line management experience
  • Cross-functional project management experience

  • Track record of preparing and delivering successful sales pitches to senior-level clients in the sports space
  • Demonstrated ability to network effectively in the sports industry to identify new commercial opportunities and build relationships with key stakeholders

Client Delivery

  • 4+ years experience in strategy consulting, including project management/leadership, in a fast-paced, high-demand environment working across different business functions and capabilities
  • 2+ years of experience working in the sports + entertainment space, preferably in a startup environment, managing senior and functional client/account relationships and projects as well as holding business development responsibilities
  • A baseline understanding of performance analytics methodologies, tech/product development processes, and data-driven insight creation
