In the relegation zone and under new ownership, Newcastle United needed to identify the right head coach to transform the club into one of England’s best once again.
Solution
Working with the club’s ownership and senior management, our detailed due diligence of the club’s shortlist of coaches helped rule out unsuitable candidates based on their track record and fit for the club’s situation, and provided confidence in appointing Eddie Howe given the strength of his previous performance reflected in his data.
Impact
Newcastle United moved from 19th to 11th in Eddie Howe’s first six months, before subsequently qualifying for the UEFA Champions League in 2023 and winning the EFL Cup in 2025.
