Building a strategy for a purpose-driven, ambitious club
Challenge
Grimsby Town had returned to the Football League without a plan. To realise the club’s ambitions, they needed a strategy to continue moving up the divisions.
Solution
Working with the club’s ownership, we utilised our strategy consulting and data science capability to help Grimsby Town develop a long-term strategy, grounded in an understanding of ‘what it takes to win’ from a sporting and financial perspective in League Two and League One and supported by an overarching vision and mission that united activities across the club.
Throughout our partnership, we also supported the club on sporting operations, including running the process to hire David Artell as the club’s new manager in the 2023/24 season.
Impact
Grimsby Town avoided relegation at the end of the 2023/24 season and enjoyed a significant improvement in performance as they pushed for promotion in 2025.
