Reviewing High
Performance

Helping the England Men’s Cricket Team to be the best in world in all formats

Challenge

Following a run of poor performance in Test Cricket, the ECB commissioned a High Performance Review to identify ways in which England could become the top ranked team across all formats within the next five years.

“The ECB Board and Executive unanimously support the men’s High-Performance Review’s recommendations. This is a significant piece of work that has the potential to benefit all parts of the men’s professional game. The depth of analysis and detail provides clear guidance at a time cricket faces much uncertainty and, importantly, at its heart recognises that a thriving men’s domestic game is the foundation for sustained success on the international stage.”

Solution

Working closely with the ECB High Performance Group, we conducted an extensive consultation with high performance experts across sport, and across the game of cricket to align on key objectives and to define a range of options.

In addition, we conducted extensive analysis to support our conclusions and to ensure decisions and discussions were being appropriately informed.

Impact

The review undertook a thorough process that combined rigorous analysis with broad consultations, and has produced 17 recommendations that can help deliver both winning England Men’s teams and a thriving domestic game.
