Solidifying investment thesis and validating a football club’s value
Challenge
An American investment group and a PE firm needed to quantify the risks and upside associated with investing in a high-profile European football club.
Solution
We created bespoke models to understand the current and future landscape of the target’s league and evaluated potential sporting and commercial opportunities.
We also combined public and proprietary data to determine the investments required to achieve certain outcomes, including a risk spectrum for each scenario. We collaborated on live-season and multi-year relegation probabilities for the clubs within the league.
In addition, we merged performance data with financial data to measure future squad appreciation / depreciation of each club in the league, allowing our partners to visualise the natural trajectory of the target club’s squad relative to competitors.

Our partners could understand how their investment and capital injections would impact performance outcomes, and how those would in turn affect broader commercial objectives.
