We are thrilled to announce that TFG has today become official partners with Common Goal, the movement harnessing the passion of football’s 3 billion fans to tackle the greatest social challenges of our time. The partnership means that we will donate 1% of our new football partnership revenue to Common Goal to support the high-impact global football projects aimed at advancing the United Nations Global Goals.
Common Goal was launched in 2017 when a single player, Juan Mata of Manchester United and Spain, pledged 1% of his salary to a collective fund that invests in high-impact community organisations using football to empower young people. The collective has grown to almost 200 players and managers, including Serge Gnabry, Pernille Harder, Paulo Dybala, Timo Werner, Casey Stoney MBE, and Jurgen Klopp. To date, over €3M has been generated by the movement and invested in football-based charities that support the United Nations Global Goals.
Blake Wooster, Group CEO of TFG, said: “At TFG, we are committed to our vision of leaving a positive, lasting impact on sport and I couldn’t be prouder to announce that we are members of the Common Goal movement. The pandemic has demonstrated the importance of collaboration and collective effort in solving our biggest challenges. We share Common Goal’s belief that football and sport more generally can be a help create a global community both committed and able to solve some of the issues of our time. While we work at the top of professional sport, we recognise that elite support is founded on the passion of fans all over the world, and we look forward to playing a small part in the achievement of our common goal.”
Ben Miller, Chief Advisor to Common Goal, said: “TFG is renowned for its vision and insight concerning trends and developments in the global sports industry and we are delighted that the business has collectively decided to invest a percentage of its football revenue into the Common Goal movement. We share the belief that success is increasingly measured in positive social impact in the football industry and beyond, and we’re delighted to team-up with TFG to help maximise football’s contribution to the Global Goals.”
